Boca Raton or “Boca” to locals is a suburban city of approximately 90,000 located in the heart of Florida’s Gold Cost. Residents enjoy taking advantage of the warm beaches as well as world class shopping, restaurants, and cultural events throughout the year. The picturesque Mediterranean Revival architecture enchants visitors and residents alike. Boca is conveniently situated less than an hour’s drive from three international airports and the cities of West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.
When not attending classes, studying, or participating in student organizations, there’s plenty of activities to keep students busy in Boca. Going to Spanish River Beach is a favorite of many FAU students, along with visiting Gumbo Limbo Nature Center to learn about sea turtles and other marine wildlife.
A variety of public transit options exists to help students get around campus and travel throughout South Florida. The FAU shuttle bus operates to help students navigate the campus, while the Palm Tran provides students with multiple routes around Boca Raton including destinations at the Tri Rail station, Town Center Mall, and other key locations. Tri-Rail and Brightline are two train lines that provide a quick and affordable way to visit Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and everywhere in between. Student discounts are available!
